CE Marking Certification

What is CE Marking?

CE Marking- Certain products require CE-marking to be sold within the European market. By CE mark you declares that your product complies with the essential requirements of the applicable EU Directives. Applicable requirements are set forth in various European Directives that replace individual country safety standards. The Directives apply to products manufactured within but also exported to the European Union. CE Marking is a symbol of product safety. This is a product certification for certain products to be sold in European union. The letters "CE" are the abbreviation of French phrase "Conformité Européene" which literally means "European Conformity". Initially used term was "EC Mark" and later on "CE Marking" officially replaced it in the Directive 93/68/EEC in 1993. "Now CE Marking" is used in all EU official documents. CE Marking is a specific procedure that is to be ensured for a wide variety of products and one, which manufacturers located in the EU or importers of goods into the EU must complete. The CE mark is affixed to the product as the final stage of this procedure and is effectively a statement from the manufacturer (or importer) that the process has been successfully completed and that the product meets the essential requirements of the relevant CE marking Directives.

Why CE Marking?

The CE mark is not only a quality-mark but also-- First, it refers to the safety rather than to the quality of a product. Second, most quality markings are voluntary opposite to the CE marking, which is mandatory for the products it applies to. CE indicates conformity with mandatory European safety requirements. The most obvious benefit is that the CE Marking on your product will gain you access to the European Economic Area (EEA). Additional benefits may include your product being made safer for end-users and consumers as well as reduced damage claims and liability premiums. If the European product directives apply to your products and you want to continue to export to the European market (or introduce new products), then CE Marking is mandatory and therefore crucial to your success.
